If you’re like me, your pet is like another child to you. You want to make sure that they are healthy and spoiled to the best of your ability. One of the top things they need is good and healthy food, and sadly, the top brands come at a cost. These prices can sometimes be hard to fit into a budget, but no need to worry! Just follow these tricks to help you save on your pet’s chow.
Sample Bags
Firstly, you should know that many companies will send free sample-sized bags of food for your pet to try before you spend money on a new bag of food they have never had before. Believe me, my sweet Conrad (may he be having the time of his life in heaven) was the pickiest fella, and we went through countless bags of food until we found that he only liked beef dog food.
Don’t waste money on bags of food, just contact the company to see if they will send you a trial. We just recently changed our german short-haired pointer over to the Taste of Wild brand, and after I was so confused about which kind she’d like, I called. They sent us two different kinds of food for her to try before we bought a bag. It, also, helped us narrow down just which kind from the brand that she liked better. Super helpful!
Subscribe and Save Deals
I have found that multiple sites have deals on subscriptions for dog food on your first order. (And if you want to cancel the subscription after you get it, you always can *wink, wink*)
Amazon offers 40% off for Prime Members on dog food for your first subscribe and save order. Link: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=dog+food&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
Chewy offers 30% off your first autoship order of anything from their site. Link: https://www.chewy.com
Petco offers 35% off your first repeat delivery order. Link: https://www.petco.com
Definitely a saving option to consider! It could be very beneficial for those that do not want to have to worry about running out of dog food.
Coupons
As far as coupons go, they are sometimes difficult to come by especially for more expensive brands of dog food. Sometimes sites like the ones above (or Tractor Supply, Petsmart, etc.) will have a percentage off randomly, so it is always beneficial to check the prices of your pet’s food often.
Check your the brand site for their food as well. Some brands have been known to put out coupons every once in a while.
I have found that the best way to get money back from buying dog food is through coupon apps like Ibotta. I got 2% back on my last dog food purchase from Petco and depending on where and when you buy, that could be even higher. Check out Ibotta for saving deals. Here is my referral link: https://ibotta.onelink.me/iUfE/8cc13c64?friend_code=cjhsojp
Also, check sites around major holiday sales because most often their is a sale on something during
Hope this helps you guys out! Our pets deserve the best, but it doesn’t hurt to try to save along the way!
